The practice of meditation gathers, centers, and calms the mind. It allows one to see through the mind’s conditioning and thereby live more fully in the present moment.

The SMA Meditation Community is an open, flowing collection of people from different traditions (including various Buddhist lineages) who share a love of sitting in silence. We also share a love of spiritual community free of doctrine or belief, based in equality and mutual respect. Everyone is welcome. Because friendships with like-minded people support the inner path, we usually meet informally after sittings to share ideas and come to know one another.

Although the forty-minute silent meditations begin at 10:10 and end at 10:50, please feel free to come and go quietly at any time. Meditation assistance is available before or after the sit.

For more in-depth meditation instruction, ask Ann Barden (Vipassana) or Jerry Steward (general) at jermer@hotmail.com, 154-0877.

All offerings are free, donations welcome. For more information or to be on our mailing list, contact: SMAMC@lifepathretreats.com

To provide spiritual strength to alleviate the feeling of isolation and loneliness by means of providing social interaction in their weekly lunch serving physical and spiritual food.

We value their belief and respect their human dignity and help restore hope in the last portion of their life.

Is a charitable organization founded in February 1989 . Each Wednesday for the past 23 years something very unique and empowering takes place in the sunny courtyard behind the Parroquia. Long tables covered with red and white checkered tablecloths are set up under laurel trees.

The tables are numbered according to age 65-95; the elders will be served fírst. Before the food is served, their thin old voices are lifted in a song of gratitude...

By Javier Estrada:
Remote, sleepy eyes, with a lost look on the vast horizon, wearing arrogant colors and wrapped in the music of the infinite hymn of the poor squeals of their wrecked carts, decorated by the sounds of the hoofs of his solitaries horses, they enter these lands in the fifteenth century.

Where do they come from? So strange, so proud, while these women breastfeed their young kids; the elderly more idly, wondering these new paths. Here is the price to pay to remain what they have always been, birds of passage, intrusive outsiders: the patriarch of the clan scrutinizes between the cracks of the landscape and think that heres, as any other part of the world, the tribe will not give up for anything, an old custom which they call Freedom.

In this guitar concert, Javier Estrada will describe with musical notes and poetry, the life of the Roma People. Do not miss this unique experience.

The Meditation Center presents the 24 part Great Courses series Essentials of Tai Chi and Qigong, Part 5, The Five Families of Tai Chi Practice, The Ultimate Martial Art, at 5:30, Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Center, Callejon Blanco #4.

In this lecture you will learn about the origins and features of Chen, Yang, Wu/Han, Wu, and Sun, the five families of tai chi practice. The style that started them all was Chen, grand master Chen Bu, who lived in the 1300's. But it was the 9th generation Chen patriarch, Chen Wan-ting, who gets much of the credit for bringing together all of the training practices into two routines. The Chen style is characterized by stances that are deeper and wider than most of the other styles of tai chi. The tempo of the routines varies in speed throughout, with soft-slow motions punctuated by faster and more powerful punches, slaps, kicks and grabs.

The Yang style is named for Yang Lu-chan, the first person outside the Chen family to be accepted as a disciple and to master the style. Having sworn an oath to his master not to reveal the secrets of the Chen style to outsiders, he created his own style. He made the movements larger, softer and rounder. The style was still devastatingly effective, but also gentler and easier to learn. Yang surpassed Chen in popularity, and is the most well known and widely practiced around the world, due to the teaching of Yang Chen-fu, Lu-chan's grandson.

Wu Quanyou, a Manchurian officer, became so adept he was invited to become a disciple of Yang Lu-chan's oldest son. He made distinctive adaptations to the original Yang style and developed his own family system, the Wu style, the third of the five families. One of the distinctive characteristics of Wu style is it is more uprigh

San Miguel Allende is a city that today is an important reference point for poets and musicians. The various artistic manifestations have managed to creat a plural and inclusive city, that bring us the escenary to smells, instead listen and feel all that is done in this little corner of the bajio.

In this context the concert harp and guitar of Teacher Basurto is a necessary anf unforgettable experience. We heard a tour with latin American music from Venezuela, Cuba, Paraguay Spain and Mexico. The harp is magic and the master shows the way to learned this vast music.

The second half of the concert is flamenco, poetry and feeling. Here the guitarist brilliantly plays and stimulates the heart which is well worth it.

Sundays at 9am
We play at the diportiva just up from Mega, and in front of the entrance to Los Frailes.

A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

The Basics
1. A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
2. Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
3. Played with a paddle and a plastic ball.

A Game for Everyone
The USAPA currently estimates there are now over 400,000 players actively playing pickleball.

Regularly scheduled tours take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Groups form in the Jardin across from the Parroquia (large church) at 9:45 AM, and leave promptly at 10:00 AM.
